NuTCRACKER error in Test Manager when running in a Citrix environment

Troubleshooting

Problem

The following error is encountered when executing a suite IBM® Rational® Test Manager running in a Citrix® environment: []Unable to run Suite. Monitoring service failed to initialize.[]

Resolving The Problem

“Unable to run suite. Monitoring services failed to initialize" is the message you encounter when you run a suite in TestManager within a Citrix or Terminal Server environment:

NuTCRACKER is a TestManager component. To ensure proper operation of NuTCRACKER on Windows® Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, your user privileges might need to be updated.

With Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Microsoft has disallowed non-privileged users from creating global objects. There is a new privilege Create Global Objects (SeGlobalName) which is needed in order to create, but not access, a global named object.

Citrix and WTS users should reference the MKS Tech Note at http://www.mkssoftware.com/support/tn-wints.asp.
Once the changes referenced in the Tech Note are implemented, you will no longer encounter this error.
