Troubleshooting
Problem
When entering the Host name as the DNS name the API issues an error that the value entered in not a Valid Host name. The customer verified though that the Host name is indeed valid.
Cause
The Host name begins with a Number.
Partner Engagement Manager (PEM) uses the RFC-952 version of the internet standards for how Host names should be created.
The RFC-952 version mandated that labels could not start with a digit or hyphen (minus) character and could not end with a hyphen (minus) character.
Resolving The Problem
The IP address can still be used in these circumstances.
There is an enhancement request already initiated:
https://watsonsupplychain.ideas.aha.io/ideas/PEM-I-163
Asks that PEM be upgraded to the RFC-1123 version which will allow the Host name to begin with a number.
