IBM Support

How To Get Support For The ibm_db2 Or pdo_ibm PHP Database Connection Extensions For DB2 on i

Product Documentation

Abstract

This document describes support options for the ibm_db2 and pdo_ibm PHP extensions.

Content

For users of PHP running on IBM i, the ODBC interfaces (odbc/PDO_ODBC) are the recommended technique for connecting to the database. The ODBC driver for PASE is available via "IBM i Access Client Solutions - PASE Application Package" located at the main IBM i Access - Client Solutions page. This connection type does not utilize SQL CLI.
In addition to ODBC, there are two legacy database connectors provided for Db2 connectivity:  ibm_db2 and PDO_IBM.  Both of these connectors use the SQL CLI support on IBM i to interact with the database.  IBM i Support can help to triage and work on issues with the SQL CLI support, which is part of the IBM i OS.  But for issues or questions about these database connector extensions there are two options.
Option 1: Community Support (Free)
Contact the open source maintainers through the links on the PECL (PHP Extension Community Library) site for ibm_db2 or pdo_ibm
Option 2: Premium Support
Seiden Group offers support for the ibm_db2 and PDO_IBM modules on any PHP distribution. This is included with their premium support for Seiden Group's Community Plus+ PHP distribution. Consult their website for more details and contact information.
