Instructions to Enable TLS Communications connecting to DB2 Databases in IBM Information Server v11.x

Summary

This document cover steps required to enable TLS communication for connections connecting to DB2 XMeta and DSODB databases used by Information Server. It does not cover the database connections that are defined for products like DataStage, Information Analyzer, Metadata Asset Manager(IMAM).

In Information Server 11.7.1.3 and later releases, TLS 1.2 is the only supported network protocol.
Starting with Information Server 11.7.1.6, there is additional flexibility in configuring the network protocol:
1. TLS 1.2 is the default network protocol.
2. The network protocol can be changed to only allow TLS 1.3 connections.
3. Alternatively, the server can be configured to accept both, TLS 1.3 and TLS 1.2 connection requests.
