Troubleshooting
Problem
When the database contains control character values (characters with ascii value 31 and under, or hex value 20 and under), they are displayed as � in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.
These control characters were not displayed in IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.x. When upgrading to Cognos Analytics 11 you might see the � character appear that was not displayed in reports in Cognos 10.
Symptom
By default when control characters are present in the report output, either correctly encoded or displayed as replacement character � in Cognos Analytics 11.x.
