Abstract

This document provides information on the Netserver menu in the QMGTOOLS library.

Information regarding the NetServer menu option in the Client/Server menu of QMGTOOLS.
Step 1 Install QMGTOOLS
If the QMGTOOLS toolkit has not yet been installed, you should refer to the following document for how to download and install the QMGTOOLS toolkit on your IBM i server.
Step 2 To get to the NetServer menu, either type GO QMGTOOLS/NETSVR or get to the Client/Server option from the main QMGTOOLS menu (GO QMGTOOLS/MG).

Netserver menu
Performance/Functionality (Trace NetServer)
Performance/Functionality performs a trace connection and a LIC trace with trace type of *SMBSVR. Parameters are as follows.
 
Function
*START - start the trace
*STOP - stop the trace
*DUMP - dump the trace
*DELETE - delete the trace in the trace buffer
Trace CNN size
Size in megabytes for the trace connection
LIC trace size
Size in megabytes for the LIC trace
Delete trace
When specifying *STOP, delete the traces in the buffer too
Where to store the data
When specifying *DUMP, store the data in physical file members (*PF) or in the IFS (*IFS)
IFS directory to store data
If specifying *IFS, where to store the data
Library to store data
If specifying *PF, where to store the data
Submit job If specifying *DUMP, submit the job to batch or run interactive
Hung/Unable To Start (Gather Diagnostic Data)
Collects diagnostic data if Netserver is not able to start or appears hung. The data collected with this option is as follows:
  • TASKINFO -NAMES SMB QZLS -F A -TF 2
  • /QIBM/UserData/OS400/NetServer/QAZLSCFG
  • /QIBM/UserData/OS400/NetServer/QAZLSSHR
  • /QIBM/UserData/OS400/NetServer/QAZLSEXT*
When this option is selected, the user will need to enter an OS400 sign on user ID/password and the SST sign on user ID/password. Data will be saved into a zip file in the IFS under /tmp/IBMDATAxxx.zip where xxx is a number.
