System crash using ClearCase on host with Waterwall installed

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote details a known problem that can cause a system crash or Blue Screen of Death when both IBM® Rational® ClearCase® and Waterwall® are in use on the same host.

Symptom

When accessing or creating a ClearCase dynamic or snapshot view, the user interface crashes.

In some cases, when performing other operations, such as checkout, checkin or compiling, the host fails with a Blue Screen.

This problem only occurs when both Rational ClearCase and Waterwall are in use on the same machine.

Waterwall is a security software used to stop users from copying the source from or to any external device, among other features. The file filter for this functionality is Filehook.sys.
