Symptom

When Flex System Storage Expansion Node firmware update is run under RHEL 7, the following was the command and error message:

	#>./lnvgy_fw_sraidmr_sen-23.33.0-0018_linux_32-64.bin -s Supported Linux release not detected, aborting update.

(where RHEL = Red Hat Enterprise Linux)

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following servers:

Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 7893, any model
Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8721, any model
Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8724, any model

This tip is not software specific.

This tip is not option specific.

The LSI firmware for the Storage Expansion Node is affected.

Solution

The firmware update can be extracted and run manually.

	#>mkdir lnvgy_fw_sraidmr_sen-23.33.0-0018_linux_32-64 #>unzip lnvgy_fw_sraidmr_sen-23.33.0-0018_linux_32-64.bin -d #>lnvgy_fw_sraidmr_sen-23.33.0-0018_linux_32-64/ #>cd lnvgy_fw_sraidmr_sen-23.33.0-0018_linux_32-64/image

Confirm if the operating system is 64 bit using uname -a, and look for x86_64.

	#>uname -a Linux mn10 3.0.13-0.27-default #1 SMP Wed Feb 15 13:33:49 UTC 2012 (d73692b) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If the operating system is 64 bit, then copy storcli64 to MegaCLI.

If the operating system is 32 bit, then copy storcli to MegaCLI.

	#>cp storcli64 MegaCLI #>chmod +x install.sh lsiMRupdate MegaCLI mindrv storcli storcli64

Run the firmware update:

#>./lsiMRupdate ctlr-info.txt
lsiMRupdate
