Troubleshooting
Problem
When using Lenovo XClarity Administrator Configuration Patterns to apply RAID configuration settings to a managed system, the settings will not be applied unless the system is powered on when the pattern is applied. If the pattern is applied with the power off, the application will give the user an error message stating that the pattern's settings were not successfully applied. (where RAID = Redundant Array of Independent Disks)

The following system firmware level(s) are affected: All levels of IMM2 firmware are affected.
Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.
Please see the compatibility page for more information: http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/
Solution
This behavior has been corrected in the v1.0.1 release of Lenovo XClarity Administrator.
This release was published in July 2015.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround
To correctly apply settings, power on the server prior to applying the configuration pattern. Re-applying the pattern after powering on the server is supported.
Additional information
The root cause of this is in the writing of RAID configuration data which requires the RAID card to have active power at the time of configuration changes. The IMM2 Firmware implementation does not recognize this prerequisite and sends the configuration commands to the powered-off card which results in the cards not being properly acted upon. An error is returned to the configuration patterns code indicating the configuration was not properly written.
