Troubleshooting
Problem
A positive leap second will be introduced at the end of June 2015. The sequence of dates of the UTC second markers will be: 2015 June 30,23h 59m 59s 2015 June 30,23h 59m 60s 2015 July 1,0h 0m 0s Refer to https://hpiers.obspm.fr/iers/bul/bulc/bulletinc.dat If, for example, users do not have Lenovo system hardware and servers configured for Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronization, the time will have to be adjusted manually due to leap second clock drift. (where UTC = Coordinated Universal Time)
Resolving The Problem

RETAIN tip: H214993
Symptom
A positive leap second will be introduced at the end of June 2015. The sequence of dates of the UTC second markers will be:
| 2015 June 30, | 23h 59m 59s |
| 2015 June 30, | 23h 59m 60s |
| 2015 July 1, | 0h 0m 0s |
Refer to https://hpiers.obspm.fr/iers/bul/bulc/bulletinc.dat
If, for example,
|
users do not have Lenovo system hardware and servers configured for Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronization, the time will have to be adjusted manually due to leap second clock drift. (where UTC = Coordinated Universal Time) |
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following Lenovo x86 servers:
- Lenovo NeXtScale n1200 DWC Enclosure, type 5468, any model, any any model
- Lenovo NeXtScale n1200 DWC Enclosure, type 5469, any model, any nx360 M5
- Lenovo NeXtScale nx360 M5, type 5465, any model
- Lenovo NeXtScale nx360 M5, type 5467, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following Lenovo Options:
- Integrated Management Module II (IMM2)
This tip is not software specific.
Solution
Enable NTP synchronization or manually adjust the clock from time to time if NTP synchronization is not enabled for leap second.
Refer to the following link for more information on leap second:
Workaround
If Lenovo System X hardware and Servers are not configured for NTP synchronization, the time will have to be adjusted manually from time to time for the leap second.
Additional information
A positive leap second will be introduced at the end of June 2015. The sequence of dates of the UTC second markers will be:
| 2015 June 30, | 23h 59m 59s |
| 2015 June 30, | 23h 59m 60s |
| 2015 July 1, | 0h 0m 0s |
Refer to:
Configure NTP synchronization or the time will have to be adjusted manually for the leap second.
Manual re-adjustments should be done periodically due to forward or backward clock drift when the clock is not NTP synchronized.
