Symptom
Lenovo XClarity Administrator does not get an Internet Protocol
version 4 (IPv4) address from the Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP) server.
Affected configurations
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- Lenovo XClarity Administrator, 1.0.0
This tip is not system specific.
This tip is not option specific.
Note: This does not imply that the network operating
system will work under all combinations of hardware and
software.

Solution
This issue will be addressed in a future release of the Lenovo
XClarity Administrator.
The target date for this release is scheduled for fourth quarter
2015.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate
Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type,
and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the
following URL:
Workaround
There are two (2) workarounds:
First is to configure Lenovo XClarity Administrator to use
static IPv4.
Second is to restart the management appliance Virtual Machine
until Lenovo XClarity Administrator successfully gets an IPv4
address from the DHCP server.
Additional information
This issue may be caused due to underlying network being
temporary out of service or the DHCP servers not functioning
properly.
One workaround, utilizing a static IP address, eliminates the
need to depend upon a DHCP server. Users should consider using
static IP's on all network infrastructure devices to eliminate the
possibility of a similar failure.
A second Workaround, restarting the Virtual Machine, will cause
the system to retry obtaining an IP address from the external DHCP
servers again and may work.
