- Intel X710 2x10 GbE SFP+ Adapter for IBM System x, option part number 81Y3520, any model
This tip is not system specific.
This tip is not software specific.
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This is a permanent limitation.
Workaround
The \APPS\BootUtil\ folder in the Intel v19.4 Drive Package provides DOS, Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), and Linux utilities and instructions to disable the Option ROM.
To use BootUtil tools for enabling or disabling the Option ROM feature:
- Option ROM boot enabling/disabling is -FE / - FD.
For example, to disable the boot ROM on all ports, run:
| BootUtil -FD -ALL |
Additional information
There is only a limited amount of Legacy Option ROM space available for each system. Only a limited number of devices can be enabled at one time for a legacy boot.
If trying to enable a particular device for a legacy boot option, disabling the Intel X710 2x10GbE SFP+ Adapter for IBM System x will reduce the number of Legacy option ROMs for the system to load.
The next firmware update for the Intel X710 2x10GbE SFP+ Adapter for IBM System x will have the Legacy Option ROM disabled by default.
