'Server Management' --> 'Adapter' page under the Integrated Management Module II (IMM2) web:

Emulex 8Gb FC hardware 'Configuration' tab 'Configuration is not supported by this adapter'

Affected configurations

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:

  • Emulex 8 Gb FC Dual-port HBA for IBM System x, Option 42D0494, replacement part number 42D0500
  • Emulex 8 Gb FC Single-port HBA for IBM System x, Option 42D0485, replacement part number 42D0491
  • Emulex LPe1205a-IBM 8GB FC, Option 95Y2375, any 95Y2378
  • Flex System FC3172 2-port 8 Gb FC Adapter, Option 69Y1938, CRU 69Y1941

This tip is not system specific.

This tip is not software specific.

Solution

This is a permanent limitation.

Universal Configuration Manager is not supported with Emulex 8Gb fibre channel controllers.

Workaround

End user can use the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Human Interface Infrastructure (HII) or legacy Power On Self-Test (POST) to config the adapter.

Additional information

'Configuration' Tab shows 'Configuration is not
supported by this adapter.'

The issue can be observed by performing the following:

  1. The adapter should be installed in the system.
  2. Boot to the Operating System (OS) to have the Firmware of the adapter updated. The necessary drivers are installed to support firmware update.
  3. Once the update procedure is completed, restart the system.
  4. Allow system to boot pass system UEFI POST. Either to enter System UEFI menu or boot into OS.
  5. Check 'Server Management' --> 'Adapter' page under IMM2 web.
