Problem

Sometimes users cannot enter into Preboot DSA (pDSA) when the setting of security boot is enabled. (where DSA = Dynamic System Analysis)

Symptom

Sometimes users cannot enter into Preboot DSA (pDSA) when the setting of security boot is enabled.

(where DSA = Dynamic System Analysis)

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following Lenovo servers:

  • System x3500 M5, type 5464, any model

This tip is not software specific.

This tip is not option specific.

The following system BIOS/UEFI level(s) are affected: System UEFI Build ID: TAE104C
The following system firmware level(s) are affected: pDSA firmware Sign build 10.0 A2N

Solution

This behavior will be corrected in a future Lifecycle (LFC) UEFI release.

The target date for this release is scheduled for second quarter 2015.

The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround

Disable Secure Boot to work around the issue.

  1. Set the system board jumper at label SW-2 (dip 4) to 'on'.
  2. In Setup Menu --> Security --> Security boot --> set to disable.
