Troubleshooting
Problem
Loss of access when using Hitachi Storage Systems with Storwize for Lenovo V6.4.1.2, IBM SAN Volume Controller V6.4.1.2, and IBM Storwize V7000 Unified V1.4
Resolving The Problem
Abstract
An issue has been identified that will cause a loss of access to all managed disks on some Hitachi storage systems when running IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) V6.4.1.2, Storwize V7000 for Lenovo V6.4.1.2, or IBM Storwize V7000 Unified V1.4.
Symptom
V6.4.1.2 of SVC and Storwize V7000 for Lenovo software, and V1.4 of IBM Storwize V7000 Unified are unable to communicate with managed disks on any Hitachi storage systems which use the SCSI Inquiry Data "DF600F".
The list of affected Hitachi storage systems include, but are not limited to:
- AMS 2500
- AMS 2100
To check if any storage systems connected to your SVC or Storwize V7000 for Lenovo system could be affected, run the svcinfo lscontroller command and look for the string "DF600F" in the output, as in the example below.

The SAN Volume Controller and Storwize V7000 for Lenovo upgrade test utility version 9.6 or later will check for affected storage systems when upgrading to SVC or Storwize for Lenovo V6.4.1.2. The IBM Storwize V7000 Unified upgrade test utility will be updated in the near future.
If you are using one of the affected storage systems, you should not upgrade to SVC V6.4.1.2, Storwize V7000 for Lenovo V6.4.1.2, or IBM Storwize V7000 Unified V1.4.
