CVE-ID: CVE-2014-3566

Description: Product could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by a design error when using the SSLv3 protocol. A remote user with the ability to conduct a man-in-the-middle attack could exploit this vulnerability via a POODLE (Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption) attack to decrypt SSL sessions and access the plaintext of encrypted connections.

Note that IMM2 in IBM BladeCenter is not affected.

Workaround(s) & Mitigation(s):

All Flex System Compute Nodes
All Integrated Management Module 2 (IMM2) devices in the chassis will automatically be restricted to TLS 1.2 only if the Chassis Management Module (CMM) is configured using the instructions here: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.acc.cmm.doc%2Fcmm_ui_configure_NIST_compliance.html Note that the TLS 1.2 setting requires CMM version v1.50.1F (2PET12F) and IMM2 version 3.50 (1AOO50B) or newer; the NIST 800-131A setting requires CMM version 2.0.0K (2PET12K) and IMM2 version 4.21 (1AOOO58U) or newer. After following these steps, connecting to the system will require a web browser that supports TLS 1.2.

Other System x Servers
Integrated Management Module 2 (IMM2) devices version 4.21 (1AOOO58U) and newer can be configured by following the instructions in the "Configuring Cryptography Management" of the following document: http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/systems/support/system_x_pdf/00fh725_en.pdf

IBM recommends that you review your entire environment to identify areas that enable the SSLv3 protocol and take appropriate mitigation and remediation actions. The most immediate mitigation action that can be taken is disabling SSLv3. You should verify disabling SSLv3 does not cause any compatibility issues.
