Problem
If the ServeRAID H1110 SAS/SATA Controller's firmware is at version 10.00.11.00 and prior, and Unified Extensive Firmware Interface (UEFI) is at version 1.50 or later, then the system will not be able to boot an Operating System (OS) in Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) mode.

Symptom
If the ServeRAID H1110 SAS/SATA Controller's firmware is at version 10.00.11.00 and prior, and Unified Extensive Firmware Interface (UEFI) is at version 1.50 or later, then the system will not be able to boot an Operating System (OS) in Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) mode.
Affected configurations
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM options:
- ServeRAID H1110 SAS/SATA Controller, option 81Y4492, any CRU
This tip is not system specific.
This tip is not software specific.
The version 10.00.11.00 and below firmware for the ServeRAID H1110 SAS/SATA Controller is affected.
Solution
This behavior has already been corrected in version 15.00.00.00 or later releases of H1110 firmware.
Workaround
Use the IBM Bootable Media Creator (BoMC) to update the H1110 firmware. The BoMC can be found at the following URL:

Additional information
There is an interoperability issue between H1110 version 10.00.11.00 and prior firmware, and IBM UEFI version 1.50 or later code that will not allow the system to boot an OS in EFI mode.
The use of BoMC will bypass the UEFI interoperability issue and allow the adapter's firmware to be updated to a later firmware level. Once at the later firmware level, the UEFI interoperability issue will no longer exist and the system will be able to boot an OS in EFI mode.
