Problem

BladeCenter Open Fabric Manager (BOFM)/IBM Fabric Manager (IFM) is not currently supported with the current available code for UFEI/IMM/AMM and QLogic multiboot for option 00Y3280 (replaces 42C1830). (where UEFI = Unified Extensible Firmware Interface,IMM = Integrated Management Module, AMM = Advanced Management Module)

Symptom

BladeCenter Open Fabric Manager (BOFM) or IBM Fabric Manager (IFM) is not currently supported with the current available code for UFEI or IMM or AMM and QLogic multiboot for option part number 00Y3280 (replaces 42C1830).

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • BladeCenter HS22, type 1911, any model
  • BladeCenter HS22, type 1936, any model
  • BladeCenter HS22, type 7809, any model, any any
  • BladeCenter HS22, type 7870, any model
  • BladeCenter HS22V, type 1949, any model
  • BladeCenter HS22V, type 7871, any model
  • BladeCenter HS23, type 1929, any model
  • BladeCenter HS23, type 7875, any model
  • BladeCenter HS23E, type 8038, any model
  • BladeCenter HS23E, type 8039, any model
  • BladeCenter HX5, type 7872, any model
  • BladeCenter HX5, type 7873, any model

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:

  • QLogic Dual-Port 10 Gb CNA (CFFh) (replaces 42C1830), Option part number 00Y3280, any model
  • QLogic Dual-Port 10 Gb Converged Network Adapter (CFFh), Option part number 42C1830, any model

This tip is not software specific.

The system has the symptom described above.

Solution

Support for IFM/BOFM feature will be released in updated releases of AMM code levels with the latest QLogic multiboot 4.16.34 or later.

The target date for this release is scheduled for second quarter 2014.

The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround

Currently there is no workaround available.

Additional information

Users will not be able to utilize the BOFM or IFM to push changes to the Qlgoic Option part number 00Y3280 cards. This manifests in changing wwnn's and other bulk changes.
