Problem

The Advanced Management Module (AMM) firmware Vital Product Data (VPD) for a Brocade 8 Gigabit Storage Area Network (SAN) Switch Module incorrectly displays the Fabric Operating System (FOS) 6.4.2b for the switch at FOS version 6.4.2b4. The firmware VPD correctly displays the release date of 08/09/2012 for the switch at FOS version 6.4.2b4.

Symptom

The Advanced Management Module (AMM) firmware Vital Product Data (VPD) for a Brocade 8 Gigabit Storage Area Network (SAN) Switch Module incorrectly displays the Fabric Operating System (FOS) 6.4.2b for the switch at FOS version 6.4.2b4.

The firmware VPD correctly displays the release date of 08/09/2012 for the switch at FOS version 6.4.2b4.

Affected configurations

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM option part numbers:

  • Brocade Ten-Port 8 Gigabit SAN Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter, option part number 44X1921, any replacement part number
  • Brocade Twenty-Port 8 Gigabit SAN Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter, option part number 44X1920, any replacement part number
  • Brocade Enterprise Twenty-Port 8 Gigabit SAN Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter, option part number, 42C1828, any replacement part number

Workaround

To confirm the switch FOS version 6.4.2b4 through the AMM, verify that the firmware has a release date of 08/09/2012, or view the FOS version directly from the switch.

Additional information

The version field in FOS version 6.4.2b4 was not updated when fixes were added to version 6.4.2b.
