RETAIN tip: H206477
Symptom
When two Network Interface Cards (NICs) are configured with two networks in different network segments, where one is connected to a Local Area Network (LAN) and the other is connected to a Wide Area Network (WAN), the two networks interfere with each other, and the network to the WAN in Dynamic System Analysis (DSA) Preboot is not stable.
Affected configurations
The system can be any of the following IBM servers:
- System x3100 M4, type 2582, any model
- System x3250 M4, type 2583, any model
- System x3530 M4, type 7160, any model
- System x3550 M4, type 7914, any model

This tip is not software specific.
This tip is not option specific.
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This issue has been fix in Preboot DSA version 9.28 AA4.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:
http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral
Workaround
Do not configure NICs with different network segments at the same time.
Additional information
If users do not configure more than one NIC with different
network segments at the same time, the networks do not interfere
with each other, therefore, the network to WAN remains stable.
