Problem

The LAN on Motherboard (LOM) interface is disabled when a network expansion card is installed, but the Chassis Management Module (CMM) displays both the LOM network interface and expansion card network interface addresses for an expansion card in slot-1.

Symptom

The LAN on Motherboard (LOM) interface is disabled when a network expansion card is installed, but the Chassis Management Module (CMM) displays both the LOM network interface and expansion card network interface addresses for an expansion card in slot-1.

Affected Configurations

The system can be any of the following IBM servers:

  • Flex System x240 Compute Node, type 8737, any model
  • Flex System x240 Compute Node, type 8738, any model

This tip is not software specific.

This tip is not option specific.

The following system firmware levels are affected:

  • IMM2 firmware version 1.78 Build ID: 1AOO36E and earlier

The system has the symptom described above.

Solution

This behavior was corrected in Integrated Management Module II (IMM2) firmware version 1.88 Build ID: 1AOO40A and later.

This issue does not affect the functioning of the expansion card network interfaces or the enumeration of its interfaces and ports.
