Problem
When querying the Common Information Model CIM) "EthernetPort" instances, which represents the Mezzanine cards connected to the server, the"PortNumber" properties of these CIM instances all have the same value in the CIM interface. Users cannot rely only on "PortNumber" properties to distinguish these cards.

Symptom
When querying the Common Information Model CIM) "EthernetPort" instances, which represents the Mezzanine cards connected to the server, the"PortNumber" properties of these CIM instances all have the same value in the CIM interface.
Users cannot rely only on "PortNumber" properties to distinguish these cards.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- Flex System x240 Compute Node, type 8737, any model
This tip is not software specific.
This tip is not option specific.
The following system firmware level(s) are affected:
- IMM 1AOO27Q
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This behavior is corrected in Integrated Management Module II (IMM2) firmware version 1.45 (Build ID 1AOO28S) and later.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:
Workaround
Get the "DeviceID" number, which corresponds to the correct "PortNumber" of the Mezzanine card.
- Find all the "ibm_EthernetPort" instances whose "SystemCreationClassName" property has value "ibm_ComputerSystem." These are for Mezzanine cards.
- Find the "DeviceID" property. It is in the format "Name:PortNumber" (for example, 'I/O module 1:4,' where the '4' is the port number).
- Get the "ibm_EthernetPort" instances from the step above, read
the 'DeviceID' property, and get the port number after the
colon.
