Symptom
Statement of limitations for the Intel X540-T2 Dual Port 10 GBaseT Ethernet Adapter, Option 49Y7970, when used in an IBM System x3650 M4 server.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- System x3650 M4, type 7915, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- Intel X540-T2 Dual Port 10 GBaseT Ethernet Adapter, Option 49Y7970, replacement part number 49Y7972
This tip is not software specific.
Additional information
If the server is operated with 550W power supply unit (PSU), up to four (4) 49Y7972 Field Replaceable Unit (replacement part number) adapters are supported.
- With more than four:
- The system may hang with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) turned on at "Board" and "OverSpec" on the Light Path Diagnostics (LPD).
- The system may successfully boot into the installed operating system but only 4 of the 49Y7972 replacement part number adapters are actually detected.
If the server is operated with 900W PSU, five (5) or more 49Y7972 replacement part number adapters can be installed and operated.
