Symptom
The shutdown of the Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) Logical Partition (LPAR) may not power off the blade by using the VIOS Command Line Interface (CLI) command "shutdown" when the blade is managed with Systems Director Management Console (SDMC).
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- BladeCenter JS12, type 7998, any model
- BladeCenter JS22, type 7998, any model
- BladeCenter JS23, type 7778, any model
- BladeCenter JS43, type 7778, any model
- BladeCenter PS700 Express, type 8406, any model
- BladeCenter PS701 Express, type 8406, any model
- BladeCenter PS702 Express, type 8406, any model
- BladeCenter PS703 Express, type 7891, any model
- BladeCenter PS704 Express, type 7891, any model

Workaround
Enable the option that will power off the system after all LPARs are shutdown. Perform the following while the blade is powered on:
- Login to SDMC.
- Click the link labeled "Welcome".
- Click the link labeled "Hosts" under the Power System Resources section.
- Select the checkbox for the appropriate blade in the table.
- Click the "Actions" button.
- Choose "System Configuration", "Edit Host".
- On the Edit Host tab, ensure the checkbox labeled "Power off the system after all the virtual servers are powered off." is checked.
