Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Please see the compatibility page for more information: http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/

Solution

This is a permanent limitation of the adapter when used in conjunction with Windows 2003.

Workaround

The Power Management tab is used to set several options:

  • Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.
  • Allow the device to wake the computer.
  • Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer.

The Wake on LAN function is enabled by default. Even though the Power Management tab is not presented under Windows 2003, the Wake on LAN function is working.

These options can also be set from Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) settings.

Additional information

UEFI Version 1.12 (Build ID D6E153A) enables the Power Management tab for the on-board Network Interface Controller (NIC) under Windows 2003, but not for the Dual-Port 1 Gigabit Ethernet Daughter Card.
