Problem

When rebooting a BladeCenter HS22 blade with IMM version 1.22 and UEFI version 1.12, the LSI controller may not be seen during Power On Self Test (POST). This will prevent an operating system installed on a hard drive connected to the LSI controller frombooting.

Symptom

When rebooting a BladeCenter HS22 blade with IMM version 1.22 and UEFI version 1.12, the LSI controller may not be seen during Power On Self Test (POST). This will prevent an operating system installed on a hard drive connected to the LSI controller from booting.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • BladeCenter HS22, type 1936, any model
  • BladeCenter HS22, type 7870, any model

The following system BIOS/uEFI level(s) are affected:

  • UEFI p9e151b 1.12

The following system firmware level(s) are affected:

  • IMM yuoo84c 1.22

This tip is not option specific.

Solution

Update the Integrated Management Module (IMM) to version 1.25, or later and UEFI to version 1.12 or later. The files are available by selecting the appropriate machine type on the 'Product View' of IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround

Power off and then power on the system instead of issuing a warm reboot.
