This tip is not software specific.
The firmware version 12.7.0-0020 and earlier levels for the IBM
ServeRAID M5000 Series SAS/SATA Controllers is affected.
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
Direct Battery Attachment
If the battery is installed locally to the controller, update
the controller to the ServeRAID M5014, M5015, or M5025 firmware
version 12.12.0-0039 or a later level, which supports the new
battery. The firmware can be downloaded from the following
location:

To properly monitor the battery status, it is also required that
you update MegaRAID Storage Manager to version 8.16-03 or a later
level, to support the new battery. Download the latest version of
MegaRAID Storage Manager for Microsoft Windows from the following
location:

Download the latest version of MegaRAID Storage Manager for Linux
from the following location:
Remote Battery Attachment
If running an IBM System x3550 M2 (7946), IBM System x3650 M2
(7947) or IBM System x3690 X5 (7148), update the controller to the
latest IBM ServeRAID M5014, M5015, or M5025 firmware version
12.12.0-0047 or a later level, which supports remote installation
of the battery.
If the battery is installed remotely in an IBM System x3620 M3
(7376), IBM System x3630 M3 (7377), IBM System x3755 M3 (7164) or
IBM iDataPlex dx360 M3 (6391), call IBM Support and refer to this
RETAIN Tip, then ask for the case to be escalated. Currently, the
iBBU08 is not supported in these systems.
Additional information
Direct Battery Attachment
The new battery has a different charging circuit than the
previous version, which requires the IBM ServeRAID 50xx firmware to
be at version 12.12.0-0039 or a later version. The latest version
of MegaRAID Storage Manager is 8.16-03 or a later level.
Remote Battery Attachment
The new battery currently supports remote mounting on IBM System
x3550 M2 (7946), IBM System x3650 M2 (7947) or IBM System x3690 X5
(7148), with IBM ServeRAID M5014, M5015, or M5025 firmware at
version 12.12.0-0047 or later levels.
