Symptom

If the web interface is open (normally on the first page for system status) and the user flashes the machine using a utility, the user may receive the following pop-up error message:

Error getting Sensors information from server: 'firstChild' is null or not an object.

Only after a user clicks OK will the "Your session has been terminated" page appear.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • System x3850 X5, type 7145, any model
  • System x3850 X5, type 7146, any model

This tip is not software specific.
This tip is not option specific.

The following system firmware level(s) are affected:

  • IMM firmware

Workaround

The user should click OK on the pop-up message, and will then be told that the session has been lost and that they need to start a new session.

Additional information

This message displays when the web session is lost; the message should be more meaningful. The session is lost because the flashing utility resets the IMM, causing any active web sessions to be lost.
