Option 43W7666, Replacement number 43W7669 - 300 GB 10,000 RPM 2.5-inch SATA slim Hot-Swap HDD,
Option 43W7670, Replacement number 43W7673
This tip is not software specific.
The versions previous to 04.04V08 firmware for the HDD is affected.
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This behavior has been corrected in IBM SAS/SATA Hard Drive update program v1.06, which is a critical update that includes hard drive firmware version 04.04V08. Hard drive firmware version 04.04V08 fixes this issue for the drive identified above.
The file is available from (Critical update) IBM SAS/SATA hard drive update program v1.12.01 - IBM BladeCenter and System x.
Additional information
The IBM SAS/SATA Hard Drive update program will automatically identify the drives in your system and update your system with the latest firmware.
This issue is due to a false time out generated by the drive, causing the Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) controller to mark the drive as defunct.
