Symptom
After creating six (6) or more Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) Local Area Network (LAN) sessions to the Integrated Management Module (IMM), the user may receive the following errors when trying to create more:
Invalid user name
Error: Unable to establish LAN session
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- System x3550 M2, Type 7946, any model
- System x3550 M3, Type 4254, any model
- System x3550 M3, Type 7944, any model
- System x3650 M2, Type 7947, any model
- System x3650 M3, Type 4255, any model
- System x3650 M3, Type 7945, any model
- iDataPlex dx360 M2 Server, Type 6380, any model
- iDataPlex dx360 M2 Server, Type 7321, any model
- iDataPlex dx360 M2 Server, Type 7323, any model
This tip is not software specific.

The system has the symptom described above.
Workaround
Do not try to create more than five (5) IPMI LAN sessions to the IMM.
Additional information
When more than five (5) terminals are running continual requests, sessions 6 and greater may periodically fail.
