This tip is not software specific.
Solution
To reset the password to the default setting of no password, the user will need to take the following steps:
The user needs to install NeoCenter 4.3. The version 4.2 is what would have initially shipped with the Library.
Once version 4.2 has been installed, the user needs to add the files that will make it version 4.3. Copy and paste them in the directory that has NeoCenter 4.2 installed. Select Yes when asked to replace the NextGen.tdb file. Next, change the path of the shortcut to open the new exe of NeoCenter_43.
Once NeoCenter 4.3 is installed, connect the RS232 to RJ11 communication cable. This cable, replacement part number 24P7355, shipped with the Library with this special communications cable connected to the serial port of the system that NeoCenter is on and the RJ11 cable connected to the RS232 port on the Library controller.
Once the physical connection is done, configure the Serial port on the system that is being used to make this connection.
Next start NeoCenter and click on connect. Select the Serial port that the system is being connected to. Select the baud rate and keep it at Auto or change it to 115200bps. Once completed, click on OK. If it does not connect to that COM port, please verify that this is the correct COM Port.
Once that is completed, be sure to document any settings wanting to be maintained, i.e., networking or any other configurable settings. To note what they are, view them by clicking on Configure Set Values. Document any settings that needs to be reset because the next step will bring the user back to the factory default settings and will lose the settings.
Next, click on Configure and select Set Default. A pop-up window will appear and ask the user the following:
"Do you really want to set the configuration to it's default values? The Library will reboot immediately after it's configuration is updated."
Click Yes to this question. A new pop-up window will appear as below:
"Default configuration values have been succesfully set. The Library will now reboot."
Click OK to this action. A new pop-up window will appear as below:
"Library is rebooting."
Click OK to this action.
Note: To go back and set the networking or any other custom values that was set before, connect to the Library again with NeoCenter before changing those values back again.
Additional information
By setting the controller back to the default settings, the user has eliminated any prevous passwords as well as any other custom configuration settings.
