The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server EE x64, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server for 64 Bit Itanium Servers, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, any service pack

Contact the IBM Support Center for investigation if there are more than three instances per hour, or 10 instances per day, of Event ID 106 logged.
Contact your appropriate Support Center for your geography. In the United States, contact 1-800-IBM-SERV (1-800-426-7378).

Fewer than four instances per hour or fewer than eleven instances per day can be ignored. If Event ID 106's are occurring at low rates, then the system should be monitored periodically for increases above either of these rates.

System processors (CPU) report Event 106 (corrected MC machine check) in IA32 systems, but this does not necessarily mean that the CPU is bad. The CPU is just the conduit for reporting all MCs.
MC's may be reported for any of the following reasons:

MC's Detected by the CPU:
- Errors occurring within the CPU itself(Cache ( Single / Double bit flip)
- Errors occurring on the CPUs FSB (Front Side Bus)
- Errors occurring within system memory (Single bit flip)
- Errors occurring within system cache (bit flips)

MCs External to the CPU that assert the CPUs MCA pin:
- PCI Bus errors corrected (or not) (PCI - X / e) (Parity errors, etc)
- Other corrected (or not) HW errors that an OEM may expose to MCA
If the Event 106s are infrequent, then no repair action needs be taken. It is recommended to monitor the system for more frequent occurrences.
If Event ID 106s become more frequent, then there is a possibility that a component may be degrading and the system logs should be investigated for a possible repair action.
