After loading the Intel 5000 Series Chipsets integrated device driver, the device status in Windows Device Manager states "No drivers are loaded for this device".

Symptom

After loading the Intel 5000 series chipsets integrated device driver, the device status in Windows Device Manager states "No drivers are loaded for this device".

Affected configurations

- The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

System x3550, type 1913, any model
System x3550, type 7978, any model
System x3650, type 1914, any model
System x3650, type 7979, any model

- The system is configured with at least one of the following:

Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
Microsoft Windows 2003 Server EE x64
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition

- This Tip is not option specific.

Solution

The Intel 5000 series chipset integrated device driver does not install the driver, ioatdma.sys, an Intel I/O Acceleration Technology component. This driver can be properly installed using the IBM Intel-based Gigabit and Fast Ethernet Adapter driver package, version 10.4 or later. Install or update the driver by directing Microsoft Windows to find ioatdma.inf in the \PLATFORM\IOATDMA\WS03 (for IA32) or \PLATFORM\IOATDMA\WS3XPx64 (for EM64T).
