Problem

When changing the UPS Network Management logon credentials for a user, the following items can be updated: 1) User Name, 2) User Password, 3) User Authentication Phrase. Under certain circumstances, the default logon credentials may be required.

Symptom

When changing the UPS network management logon credentials for a user, the following items can be updated:

  1. User Name
  2. User Password
  3. User Authentication Phrase

Under certain circumstances, the default logon credentials may be required.

Affected configurations

- The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

UPS 10000, type 2130, any model
UPS 3000X, type 2130, any model
UPS 7500, type 2130, any model

- This Tip is not software specific.

- This Tip is not option specific.

Solution

The default log on credentials are as follows:

Administrator:

  1. User name: apc
  2. Password: apc
  3. Authentication Phrase: admin user phrase

Device Manager:

  1. User name: device
  2. Password: apc
  3. Authentication Phrase: device user phrase

These settings can be changed by connecting to the UPS via serial port or telnet and choosing the following menu items after log on:

  1. Select "System"
  2. Select "User Mangager"
  3. Select "Administrator" or "Device Manager User"
  4. Entering the necessary logon credentials
  5. Accepting the changes
  6. Logging off the UPS
