Symptom

In 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts at 2:00 AM on March 11 and ends at 2:00 AM on November 4. This new change affects some IBM Director functionality. Jobs or tasks that are scheduled to run between the new and old Daylight Savings Time transition dates will run an hour off the scheduled time.

Timestamps on IBM Director logs and Director events could also be impacted.

• IBM Director 4.10, 4.10.2, 4.11, 4.12, 4.20, 4.20.2, 4.21, 4.22, 5.10, 5.20
• ServeRAID Application CD 7.00, 7.10, 8.00, 8.15, 8.25, 8.30
• ServeRAID Support CD 4.84, 5.10, 5.11, 6.00, 6.10, 6.11, 7.00, 7.10, 7.12, 8.00, 8.15, 8.20, 8.30

Solution

There is a utility available to account for DST in IBM Director and can be downloaded from the following URL:

For example, if running Microsoft Windows 32-bit operating system, the procedure to update IBM Director is as follows:

1. Download the tool "jtzu-winia32-1.0.6p.zip" for Microsoft Windows 32-bit operating system on to IBM Director Server, Console, and agent machine.
2. Extract the files from ZIP on a C :\temp\JTZU directory.
3. Edit the "C:\temp\JTZU\runjtzuenv.bat file with the following changes:

   rem set JAVA_HOME to the Java Installation Directory rem set JAVA_HOME=C"\Program Files\IBM\director\jre <this is the default path of Director's JRE> rem set NOGUI set NOGUI=false rem set DISCOVERYONLY set DISCOVERYONLY=true

4. Run C:\temp\JTZU\runjtzuenv.bat
5. Run C:\temp\JTZU\runjtzu.bat
6. In the pop -up window, select Non-Interactive mode (this will search the JRE in your system), and click Start.
7. This will list C :\program files\IBM\director\jre directory as a potential JRE to be fixed for DST.
8. After about two minutes, there will be a success message on the command prompt indicating it fixed the JRE in the path it found .
9. Director Server, agent, or the console machine does not have to be rebooted.

For a Silent Install, set NOGUI to true, DISCOVERONLY to false, and SILENTPATCH to true in the runjtzuenv.bat file.

These batch files can be transferred to IBM Director Agents using Director Server's File Transfer task and can be launched remotely by creating a custom process task under Process Management in Director Server.

The DST utility must be executed on the following IBM Director configurations:

• IBM Director Server 4.1x, 4.2x, 5.1x and 5.2x (Microsoft Windows and Linux)
• IBM Director Console 4.1x, 4.2x, 5.1x and 5.2x (Microsoft Windows and Linux)
• IBM Director Agent 4.1x, 4.2x, 5.1x and 5.2x (Linux)
• IBM Director Agent v4.1x and v4.2x (on Microsoft Windows only if Management Processor Assistant (MPA) and/or ServeRAID Manager Extension are installed)
• IBM Director Agent v5.1x and v5.2x (Level-2) (on Microsoft Windows only if ServeRAID Manager Extension is installed)
• IBM Director Agent v5.1x and v5.2x (Level-1) (on Microsoft Windows only if ServeRAID Manager Stand-Alone is installed)
