Solution
To enable SoL for the BladeCenter HS21, so that SoL works in Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and when booted to a supported Operating System (OS), the following settings are needed in BIOS:
Devices and I/O ports:
| Serial Port A [Auto-Configure] Serial Port B [Auto-Configure] |
Devices and I/O ports --> Remote Console Redirection:
| Remote Console Active: Enabled Remote Console Comm Port: Com 2 Baud Rate: 19200 Data Bits: 8 Parity: None Stop Bits: 1 Text Emulation: ANSI Keyboard: ANSI Active after boot: enabled Flow control: hardware |
Additional configuration is needed to enable the OS to properly interact with the SoL session.
Documentation for OS configuration and general SoL setup can be found in "Serial over LAN (SOL) Setup Guide - BladeCenter", at the following URL:
Additional information
By default, the BIOS on the BladeCenter HS21, has SoL disabled (Remote Console Active: Disabled) and unconfigured.
The Fix listed above enables SoL with proper configuration.
