In a system with a secondary non-hard drive bootable device (an internal diskette drive, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) diskette drive, or a USB CD bootable device), system diagnostics will detect an additional hard drive in the system configuration and Fixed Disk Test items. The Hardware Info | Physical Disk Drive Info will report the correct number of installed hard drives. This symptom is seen on systems with LSI 1064 or 1064E Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) controllers.
