Problem

CD-ROM drive not detected during installation of Microsoft Windows 2000 Beta 3 on an IBM IntelliStation.

Resolving The Problem

Symptom

During the installation of Microsoft Windows 2000 Beta 3, some 40X CD-ROM drives are not detected automatically.

Affected configurations

This symptom may affect the following systems:

  • IBM IntelliStation E Pro (Type 6893)
  • IBM IntelliStation M Pro (Type 6889, 6897)
  • IBM IntelliStation Z Pro (Type 6865)

These systems also meet the following criteria:

  • Operating system is Windows 2000 Beta 3
  • LG 40X CD-ROM drive with firmware version earlier than 1.09 is installed
  • CD-ROM drive is not recognized
Solution

Update the firmware of the LG 40X CD-ROM drive to version 1.09 or later.

Extract the file to diskette by running the .exe file. After extracting to diskette, restart the system with this diskette in the A: drive. The update will be applied automatically.
