The following operating system are affected:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux, version 2.1, 3

Solution

There is no fix at this time. There may be future updates to the affected operating systems, provided by the operating system vendor.

Workaround

Use the BIOS setup utility to verify the processor speed and cache size.

Additional information

The command "/proc/cpuinfo" issues a CPUID instruction to the processor, which returns the cache value. The data structure returned by the CPUID instruction has changed and is no longer being displayed correctly. The information that is being displayed is incorrect and all of the processor cache is being used as normal.
