Symptom
---
A series of beep codes will sound and the POST log will generate an invalid memory configuration error.
The problem occurs when:
- Planar has BIOS level less than version 26 installed.
- The system configuration includes dual processors.
- Memory is installed on the primary processor only.
Affected configurations
---
The system may be any of the following IBM IntelliStations:
- an IntelliStation A Pro, Type 6224, any Model.
The BIOS level(s) affected is/are:
- < 26
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
---
BIOS version 26 or greater.
Additional information
---
Symptoms occur because BIOS levels prior to 26 do not support two CPU's with two DIMM configurations(i.e. CPU(0) with 2 DIMMS installed and CPU(1) with 0 DIMMS installed).
BIOS levels 26 or greater supports this configuration.
Customers installing replacement planars should first ensure BIOS on replacement planar is at level 26 or later, then install the second CPU to avoid a memory configuration error. Do not install the second CPU without first flashing to a level that supports this configuration (26 or later).
