Symptom
|
|---|
The USB mouse may not work while running from the ServerGuide 7.2.02 or later bootable CD. The problem only occurs when the USB mouse is plugged into the top USB port on the rear of the IBM eServer xSeries 445 with RSA-II EXA.
|
Affected configurations
|
|---|
The system may be any of the following IBM eServer xSeries servers:
- xSeries 445, type 8870, any model
The system is configured with the following RSA option:
- IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II-EXA, option part number 13N0382, replacement part number (FRU) 73P9246
|
Solution
|
|---|
None. This is a limitation of the ServerGuide environment.
|
Workaround
|
|---|
To use a USB mouse with ServerGuide on the xSeries 445 with RSA-II EXA, the USB mouse must be plugged into either the bottom USB port on the rear of the server, or the USB port in the front of the server. Due to a limitation of the ServerGuide environment, the USB mouse will not work when plugged into the top USB port on the rear of the server.
Note: If you must recable your USB mouse to work with ServerGuide as described above, you must restart the server in order for ServerGuide to recognize the USB mouse.

Additional information
|
|---|
The ServerGuide environment uses certain algorithms to enumerate the USB devices in the system. Plugging a USB mouse into the top USB port on the rear of the xSeries 445 and the RSA-II EXA USB cable into the bottom USB port on the rear of the xSeries 445 causes these algorithms to fail.
