When performing backup operations, Windows Server could report Event ID's (9) and (11) indicating SCSI timeouts referencing the SCSI driver. A possible cause is that the internal or external SE/LVD SCSI cable is either loose, has bent or pushed-in pins, or has been damaged.

Inspect the current SCSI cable, reseat and retry the backup operation. If the failure remains, have the SCSI cable replaced.

When configuring the LVD terminated SCSI cables for internal tape drives or external SE/LVD SCSI cables, the connections may not be seated properly or may be damaged without any visible symptoms. Properly inspecting the connections on the SCSI controller and tape device should ensure a good connection to prevent SCSI errors from occuring.
