Symptoms

The following message appears when attempting to connect to the Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module (IGESM) web interface using the Mozilla web browser: "Do you want to continue?" The Cisco Systems IGESM web interface supports Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. The Mozilla web browser often used under Linux has not been officially tested but works satisfactorily with the IGESM web interface.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM eServer servers:

  • a BladeCenter, type 8677, any model
  • a BladeCenter, type 8720 and 8730, any model
  • a BladeCenter HS40, type 8839, any model
  • a BladeCenter HS20, type 8678, any model
  • a BladeCenter HS20, type 8832, any model
  • a BladeCenter JS20, type 8842, any model

The BladeCenter chassis is configured with the following option:

  • Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module, Option part number 13N2281, replacement part number (FRU) 13N2285

The Management Module is configured with BRET59D and later diagnostics.

IGESM completes POST properly.

The following network operating systems are affected:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Red Hat Professional Workstation
  • SCO Linux Server powered by United Linux
  • SUSE LINUX Professional
  • SUSE LINUX Professional, 64-Bit Version
  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server
  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server for Intel Itanium
  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server x86
  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server for AMD Opteron
  • Turbolinux Desktop
  • Turbolinux for AMD64
  • Turbolinux Cluster Server
  • Turbolinux Professional
  • Turbolinux Enterprise Server powered by UnitedLinux

Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software. Please see the IBM ServerProven compatibility page for more information.
Solution

There is currently no fix for this problem.

Workaround

Click Continue when the "Do you want to continue?" message appears after starting a Mozilla web session to manage the IGESM.

Additional information

Cisco has not done any formal testing with the Mozilla web browser. However, a number of engineers are using that program as a web browser. While this web browser is not officially supported, it does work. Any problems associated with its use are the responsibility of the user and not IBM nor Cisco.
