Remote keyboard and mouse will not work when using remote console with Novell Netware - IBM eServer xSeries Server.

Symptom

The keyboard and mouse do not work when you are using the Remote Supervisor Adapter (RSA) for remote console control.

Affected configuration

The system may be any of the following IBM eServer xSeries servers:

  • xSeries 345, type 8670, any model
  • xSeries 335, type 8830, any model
  • xSeries 335, type 8676, any model
  • xSeries 305, type 8673, any model
  • xSeries 255, type 8685, any model
  • xSeries 235, type 8671, any model
  • xSeries 225, type 8647, any model
  • xSeries 205, type 8480, any model

The system is configured with one or more of the the following options:

  • IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter, option part number 09N7585, replacement part number (FRU) 36L9912
  • IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II, option part number 59P2984, replacement part number (FRU) 02R1654
The following NOS(es) are affected:
  • Novell NetWare, version 5.1
  • Novell NetWare, version 6.0
Solution

No solution. Remote keyboard and mouse functionality through the RSA is implemented using the RSA driver which routes the mouse and keyboard activity to the operating system. Novell NetWare does not have the interface required for this functionality.
