Symptom
|
|---|
When remotely mounting a drive through the Remote Supervisor Adapter II (RSA II) remote control page, if you open a command session window and run the RSA II driver's setup routine directly from the remotely mounted floppy, the command session appears to stop or hang. The process is not hung, but takes up to 10 minutes to execute.

Affected configurations
|
|---|
The system may be any of the following IBM eServer xSeries servers:
- xSeries 345, type 8670, any model
- xSeries 235, type 8671, any model
The system is configured with the Remote Supervisor Adapter II, option part number 59P2984, replacement part number (FRU) 02R1654.
The following NOSs are affected:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, with Service Pack 3 applied
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, with Service Pack 3 applied
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, with Service Pack 3 applied

Workaround
|
|---|
Two workarounds are available:
- Wait 5-10 minutes for the RSA II setup routine to run and install the drivers.
- Rename the RSA II driver setup routine to something other than setup, which gets around the Windows code bug that is causing the delay in the first place.

Solution
|
|---|
This behavior will be corrected in a future release of the Remote Supervisor Adapter II device driver for Windows. The target date for the release is scheduled for 3rd Quarter 2003 and may be downloaded from the File and device driver downloads page.
