System fans will not reduce in speed after POST. In some cases, the fans may be perceived as operating louder than normal. This TIP only applies if you have recently applied a System BIOS update 20A or 22A.
| Affected configurations |

The system may be any of the following IBM eServer xSeries servers:
- xSeries 225, type 8647, any model
The system may be any of the following IBM IntelliStations:
- IntelliStation Z Pro, type 6221, any model
The BIOS levels affected are 20A and 22A.
| Solution |

- Download and apply the IBM eServer xSeries 225 and IntelliStation Z Pro Type 6221 Flash BIOS Update version 1.26 or later.
- After applying the BIOS update, load the BIOS Setup screen, by pressing F1 during the boot process.,
- Select Advanced Setup, Chipset Features and then Fan Speed Control.
- Verify that the Fan Speed Control is set to Enable.
