Problem

The IBM ATA133 RAID controller will not fit in the 2U PCI Slot-2 of the IBM eServer xSeries 305 because the controller has a larger 3U bracket.

Symptom

The IBM ATA133 RAID controller will not fit in the 2U PCI Slot-2 of the IBM eServer xSeries 305 because the controller has a larger 3U bracket.

Affected configuration
  • The system is an xSeries 305, type 8673, any model.
  • The system is configured with an IBM ATA133 RAID controller, option part number 71P8592, replacement part number (FRU) 71P8603.
Workaround

Install the IBM ATA133 RAID controller in PCI Slot-1 on the xSeries 305.  

Additional information

The IBM ATA133 RAID controller is manufactured on a low-profile printed circuit board that has a 3U-high bracket.
 
Note: This controller does not come with a 2U bracket.
 
The IBM ATA133 RAID controller is supported only in the xSeries 305 3U-high PCI slot (Slot-1), and is not supported in the 2U PCI slot (Slot-2).
