Symptom
- The system is an IBM IntelliStation M Pro (type 6850) with BIOS 27A and one IDE hard disk drive (HDD) installed.
- When you attempt to boot to the IDE HDD, the system will not see the IDE HDD.
Affected configurations
- The system might be any model of the IBM IntelliStation M Pro, type 6850.
- The BIOS level affected is 27A.
Solution
Download and apply the IBM IntelliStation M Pro (Type 6850) Flash BIOS Update, version DAE130A, or higher.
Workaround
- Go into System Setup by pressing F1 during POST.
- Go into Start options and select Startup Sequence.
- Select Hard Drive Boot Priority (the last option).
- Using the plus ( + ) and minus ( - ) keys, move the IDE hard drive to the first choice, and move Bootable Add-in card to the second choice.
- Save and exit setup.
Additional information
The system is not booting past the Bootable add-in card option in the startup sequence; this behavior is fixed in BIOS 28A.
