The system board of the IBM Netfinity 3500 must be at BIOS 1.35 (or higher), before replacing the 333MHz processor with a 500MHz processor.

Symptom

The system board of the IBM Netfinity 3500 must be at BIOS 1.35 (or higher), before replacing the 333MHz processor with a 500MHz processor. The 500MHz 512KB Upgrade with Pentium III Processor (FRU 00N3879) requires BIOS version 1.35, or higher.

Affected configurations
  • The system is an IBM Netfinity 3500 server (Type 8644), any Model.
  • The system is configured with an Pentium II 333MHz Processor (Option P/N 01K8025, FRU 01K4327).
Solution

The 500MHz 512KB Upgrade with Pentium III Processor (FRU 00N3879) requires BIOS version 1.35, or higher. Download and apply IBM Netfinity 3500 BIOS Flash Update Diskette Version 1.35, or later.
