Symptom
The 20/40GB 8-mm Internal SCSI Tape Drive has one or more of the following symptoms when attached to a Netfinity 5000:

  • Skewed tape drive LCD display
  • Blank LCD display

Affected configurations
The system is an IBM Netfinity 5000 server, type 8659, any model.

The system is configured with the following option:

  • 20/40GB Black 8-mm Internal SCSI Tape Drive, Option part number 01K1325, replacement part number (FRU) 10L6099

The Version 41j Firmware for the tape drive is affected.

The system has the symptom described above.

Solution
Use the Expert application to apply the version 41k firmware update on the 20/40GB 8mm Tape Drive.
